Student visa conditions

Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP)

The DIBP is responsible for regulating international student visa conditions and institutions are required to assist in the monitoring of international student visa conditions by providing data in relation to student enrolments. It is a mandatory requirement for Curtin University, like all other education providers in Australia, to provide data to DIBP via the Provider Registration and International Student Management System (PRISMS).

As per Australian Government education regulations, the international students at Curtin University are required to fully comply with following student visa conditions;

  • Be enrolled in a CRICOS registered course
  • Make satisfactory progress in their course
  • Advise Curtin of their address in Australia within seven days of arriving and within seven days of any change of address
  • Maintain Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for themselves and their dependants for the duration of their studies
  • Ensure that that School Age dependants (5 to 18 years) living in Australia attend school. The visa holder is responsible for all fees associated with the education of School Age Children

These are some general visa conditions, however, a full list of the visa conditions applicable to international students coming to Australia has been publicised by the DIBP and can be accessed by clicking here.

There are other compulsory visa conditions applied to the families of the international students which can be found here.

Curtin University ensures compliance to the visa conditions and provides support to international students for OSHC.
